Xiaomi focusing on ‘recurring revenue streams,’ isn’t worried about shrinking phone sales

Xiaomi is looking to the smart home segment for profits.

Xiaomi isn’t worried about shrinking sales in China affecting the company’s long-term profit growth. That’s according to global VP Hugo Barra, who revealed in an interview with Reuters that the focus is instead on creating “recurring revenue streams:”

Netflix admits it throttles video streams for Verizon and AT&T customers

Following accusations from T-Mobile CEO John Legere that AT&T and Verizon were throttling Netflix streams, Netflix has now admitted that it is responsible for capping the speed of the streams. Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Netflix confirmed that it has been throttling video streams for Verizon and AT&T customers for years:

Meerkat brings live streams to Android, now available for download

The live video streaming app Meerkat is now available for download. The app was previously available as a closed beta, requiring invitations to unlock access.

TIDAL music service now streams on Sonos

Sonos now supports music streaming service TIDAL on its wireless speaker system. TIDAL bills itself as the first high fidelity lossless music streaming service with HD music videos and curated editorial. TIDAL has announced that the integration with Sonos is now live in the U.S. and Canada, and support in the U.K. will follow shortly.
