Byte is the name of Vine’s successor and is launching in Spring 2019

Hi welcome to Chili’s.

As hard as it is to believe, it’s been almost two years since Twitter officially shut down Vine in January 2017. Vine’s founder Don Hofmann shared a logo for “V2” last December suggesting that a sequel to Vine was in the works, and now almost a year later, we know what it’ll be called and when we’ll be able to play around with it.

No, it’s not called Vine 2. The new video  [Read More…]

Oukitel reveals the successor to the K7 – the Oukitel K8 (Promoted)

With Oukitel’s K7 starting delivery this week, you’d think the Chinese OEM would be content with a job well done. But as we’ve come to expect from Oukitel, it’s hard at work developing it’s next big battery smartphone – aptly dubbed the Oukitel K8. While Oukitel is generally known for naming its phones after the size of their batteries, it appears it’s rather fond of the KX designation. As such, we’ll likely see subsequent iterations of the phone follow a  [Read More…]

The LG G6 will get a successor, but it won’t be called the G7

A fresh start for the new year.

LG’s G6 and V30 last year were really solid phones, but despite this, they failed to make any sort of dent in the market. Likely as an attempt to change this in 2018, a spokesperson for LG has confirmed that the company will be getting rid of its G-series branding that’s been around since 2012 with the Optimus G in favor of something fresh and new.

This change will be  [Read More…]

The Moto X4 looks like a true successor to the original

Moto X4 leaks in all its glory.

Motorola’s Moto X line has taken a back seat as the company has focused on the modular Moto Z line, but that looks to be changing soon. We already know Motorola is coming out with a fourth Moto X, but a leak from Brazilian site Tudocellular, which obtained images as it passes through the country’s telecommunications agency, confirms a few key features for the device.

Google reportedly cancels ‘muskie’ Pixel XL successor for something bigger

Earlier this year a report surfaced that detailed the rumored codenames for Google’s upcoming successors to the Pixel and Pixel XL. According to that report, the Pixel XL’s followup was codenamed “muskie,” but it turns out we may not see that device after all.

Android Police reports that Google has cancelled the handset known as “muskie” internally, and is instead deciding on going with a different phone — one that’s even bigger than the Pixel XL. This new report lines  [Read More…]

Is the Galaxy Tab S3 a suitable successor to an aging Pixel C?

The Android tablet market is a rather barren landscape, but all you need is one …

I was late to the party, but eventually became a big fan of Google’s Pixel C tablet a handful of months after it was released. For all of its flaws in being heavy and inherently lacking app support, I loved it as an extra-portable backup computer with a really good keyboard and powerful internals. But the Pixel C is coming up  [Read More…]

Google Contributor is well and truly dead; successor yet to be revealed

Contributor accounts have been shut down, and refunds have been issued. It’s done.

To quote our previous story about Google Contributor, “this whole thing sounds really weird.” After announcing back in December that its pay-to-remove-ads product would be replaced with something new come January, Google swiftly and abruptly shut down the service in a less-than-graceful manor. Now, it’s completely dead.

It started with the Google Contributor website simply being killed at the start of  [Read More…]

OPPO teases the F1s, its successor to the F1 selfie phone

OPPO has announced the F1s, which the company will launch as the successor to the F1 selfie phone that was released earlier this year. Unfortunately, OPPO failed to provide any specifications for the upcoming handset, other than carrying on “the F1’s legacy of superb photography, sleek design and snappy performance, while adding new features and taking others to new heights.”

The company also noted just how popular the original F1 is in numerous markets, taking the  [Read More…]
