How to enable Android P’s gesture navigation system

Take a look at a huge fundamental change to Android navigation

The Android P Developer Preview has transitioned to a proper beta program, and while that means it’s opened up to several devices it also brings a substantial update to the software itself. The biggest visual difference shown off on stage at I/O 2018 is the new gesture navigation paradigm — a replacement for the tried-and-true back/home/recent buttons with a gesture area that’s more flexible and powerful.

Nest Secure vs. Ring Alarm: Which DIY security system is best?

Two well-known tech companies have competing — but also different — home alarm systems. Which one’s right for you?

It turns out these smart bulbs are kinda popular.

Philips used CES as a perfect opportunity to drop a big feature update into its app today, but in order to use that app all of the bulbs in your home need to also be updated. This isn’t usually a big deal, but because so many people are trying to update their Hue bulbs today the servers at Philips are a little overwhelmed.

Long story short, it’s going  [Read More…]

Fluance Fi70 Bluetooth sound system review: A gorgeous conversation piece

It’s big, it’s beautiful, and it sounds like heaven.

I don’t like to gush in reviews; it comes off a bit tacky, and this is supposed to be an objective look at a piece of technology, but heed this warning: I’m going to gush (#phrasing). Like the lovechild of a vegan and a CrossFit enthusiast, I’m telling everyone about this thing and no one has asked. The Fluance Fi70 is an all-in-one sound system  [Read More…]

All Pixel system apps on Play Store now show ’1-5′ installs

When official sales numbers are unavailable, people have been judging some device’s sales using the Play Store install count on some system apps. It’s an easy, though likely not very accurate, way to judge how many devices have been sold since those apps often auto update for most people.
