Intel is holding talks with a potential buyer over its wireless patents

What you need to know Intel is holding exclusive talks with one company about purchasing its vast number of patents. Intel’s James Kovacs emailed other interested parties notifying them of the development. The report goes on to speculate the company in question could be Apple, which is very interested in wireless patents.

That potential buyer is speculated to be Apple.

Google reportedly in talks to buy HTC smartphone business

Taiwanese press reports Google is in the ‘final stage’ of negotiations which could see it become a ‘strategic partner’ for HTC — or buy the struggling phone biz in its entirety.

Following a dire financial performance in August, resulting in the manufacturer’s lowest monthly revenue figures in 13 years, the Taiwanese press is reporting that HTC is in the “final stage” of talks with Google around a possible sale of the former’s struggling smartphone business.

Sprint and SoftBank start informal talks over T-Mobile merger

Sprint’s parent company starts mulling a merger with T-Mobile.

Executives from SoftBank — Sprint’s largest shareholder — have started “preliminary conversations” about an eventual merger with Deutsche Telekom, which owns 65% of T-Mobile, according to Bloomberg. Sprint tried acquiring T-Mobile back in 2014, but the deal fell through over regulatory hurdles.
