TicWatch Pro Review: Easily the best option for Wear OS

While Apple has seemingly figured out the smartwatch game, Android users are still searching for the best option. For awhile, we had the Huawei Watch which was the de-facto choice, but is now a few years old.

Since then, we have seen plenty of options walk through the door, with not many really sticking. TicWatch has released a new offering with the TicWatch Pro that could change everything. At least temporarily.

TicWatch Pro Review: Battery life update

Mobvoi isn’t the first smartwatch to put out a hybrid smartwatch, but this one works out almost too well.

Many have questioned the future — and the present — of smartwatches in the Android ecosystem. Wear OS as a category has felt dead for months now, and if there’s any watch I’d trust to help give it a shot in the arm while we wait for the long-rumored/dreamed-of Pixel Watch, it’s going to be the newest smartwatch  [Read More…]

Samsung Galaxy Watch vs. TicWatch Pro: Which should you buy?

These watches compete with each other on nearly every level.

If you’re looking for the best Google Wear OS has to offer these days, the TicWatch Pro is where it’s at. But if you’re not totally sold on the “All Google, All The Time” experience, there are other great options available. The most recent option is Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch, a continuation of the popular smartwatch design that used to have the Gear branding on it.

TicWatch Pro vs. Apple Watch: Features or polish, because I can’t have both

There are a lot of things here Apple should pay attention to.

I’ve been an active Apple Watch user for 260 days. Not a lot compared to some of the other smartwatch folks around me, but enough for me to know a fair bit about the strengths and weaknesses of the platform through my daily use. I’m largely a fan of the way Apple does things on the Watch, but like most smartwatch owners I find myself  [Read More…]

TicWatch Pro Review: Two screens, one watch

A dual-screen smartwatch sounds like the most ridiculous thing ever … until you stop picturing the screens side by side, and instead stack them one atop the other. That’s a trick that Mobvoi borrows from Casio for its new TicWatch Pro, and the result is a smartwatch with unparalleled outdoor readability. It also makes for the longest-lasting smartwatch you’ve ever seen – you’ve just got to turn off all the smart features to make it happen.

The watch is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance and runs Google’s Wear OS out of the box. Most importantly, the TicWatch Pro claims to be able to offer a battery life of up to one month in what it calls Essential mode. This uses only the top display and some key sensors while turning Wear OS  [Read More…]

TicWatch Pro announced with battery-saving second screen and NFC

The watch is coming this summer with a price tag under $ 300.

Mobvoi is one of the few companies that’s been keeping Wear OS alive for folks not interested in watches from Kate Spade and Michael Kors, and the latest addition to its lineup, the TicWatch Pro, is shaping up to be its most exciting release yet.

Where Mobvoi’s TicWatch S and TicWatch E have been cheaper/more affordable watches, the TicWatch Pro aims to offer every  [Read More…]

The TicWatch Pro features Wear OS and a secondary transparent display

Saving battery life on our smartwatches is an important factor, especially as companies shove new features under the small hoods. Mobvoi, a company based out of China, has an idea on how to help with that.

The company has unveiled the TicWatch Pro, which is a standard Google Wear OS smartwatch more often than not, but also boasts a secondary transparent display. That is meant to help stretch out battery life for the wearable and reduce Wear OS features that  [Read More…]
