Root now available for the T-Mobile Galaxy S II

T-Mobile Galaxy S II root

The T-Mobile Galaxy S II has been rooted, thanks to Samsung releasing the kernel source.  Like most Samsung Android phones (and tablets) there’s no trickery involved, you simply flash the new recovery with ODIN and you’re able to flash unsigned update packages, like the one that contains the files needed for root.  The process is pretty easy, thanks to no locked bootloaders or rolling back to engineering builds, and  [Read More…]

First impressions: T-Mobile G1 (three years later)

Exactly three years ago, those who pre-ordered began receiving their T-Mobile G1′s, the little phone that started it all. I was lucky enough to be in that group. After spending several hours with the bronze-colored geegaw on October 20, 2008, I wrote up my breathless, geeked-out thoughts for my personal blog. Apparently Apple won’t make one that will work on T-Mobile’s 3G and 4G networks. (Never mind that AT&T’s apparently trying to call its HSPA+ iPhone 4S a 4G device.)

Anyhoo, TMo’s Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president of marketing, just wants to remind y’all that they do  [Read More…]

T-Mobile Galaxy S II Review: A new classic that rocks

The Samsung Galaxy S II debuted at Mobile World Congress 2011, and I called it “sweet,” which proved to be an understatement. The hardware was wonderful, the software was a promising upgrade from the mistakes of Touchwiz UI, and things just flat-out worked.

At the time, we felt it could be the most impressive Android phone. Engadget took it a step further to call  [Read More…]

Epic Phone Time: T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II first impressions

What’s up, haters? Thinking about getting a new phone? Well maybe it’s time you took a look at the Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile, the follow-up to last year’s Samsung Vibrant. And while it may be easy to surpass the old-news-Vibrant, that doesn’t mean it will be easy to take on the fresh meat from HTC. Can the Galaxy S II be the  [Read More…]
