Sprint dangles 30-day trials and $900 incentives to switch carriers

Sprint on Friday launched a new satisfaction guarantee to attract new customers to its improved LTE coverage. As such, the carrier promises a 30-day risk free trial of its service for anyone who isn’t 100% happy.

If a customer signs up and isn’t satisfied with the network and its speeds, Sprint will refund all phone costs, service charges, and any other fees. Moreover, it will do the same for any existing customer who adds a line to their account.

Nokia Networks is in talks with Indian carriers over 5G trials

Indian carriers are making 4G widely available in the country, and it looks like they’re starting to trial next-generation 5G services. Nokia Networks is in discussion with telecom vendors over the feasibility of 5G.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Nokia Networks Head of Mobile Broadband Milivoj Vela said:

Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine trailer is the best endorsement yet for the HTC Vive

Industrial Light and Magic — the special effects studio behind the Star Wars franchise — is working on a tie-in an experience for the HTC Vive that puts you in the center of the Star Wars universe. Dubbed a “cinematic virtual reality experiment,” Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine features R2-D2, the Millennium Falcon, and lots of lightsaber battles with Stormtroopers.

AT&T may begin 5G field trials in Austin by the end of 2016

AT&T is making very early preparations for launching its 5G wireless network in the US. The carrier says it hopes to begin field trials in Austin, Texas sometime before the end of 2016.

AT&T says it has patents for a number of different technologies that could be used for its 5G network. It stated:

T-Mobile tempts Verizon customers with 2-week trials


T-Mobile on Tuesday kicked of its Never Settle Trial, a program designed specifically to lure away Verizon customers. T-Mobile will let existing Verizon subscribers test out its network and services over a period of two weeks with no obligations or commitments.
