Google partners with Howard University in an effort to recruit more black engineers

University students take on 360-degree video with VR film contest

As the interest round VR and 360-degree video heats up, students from the Rhode Island School of Design and New York University are competing in a “first-of-its-kind” VR film contest. Sponsored by 360fly, the contest has 22 finalist submissions that you can check out on YouTube below.

Google Maps Street View adds imagery of 36 more university campuses in the U.S. and Canada

Google Maps is expanding its Street View database to include walkthrough imagery of 36 more popular universities across the U.S. and Canada, just in time for the back-to-school season. Google highlights imagery from Georgetown, University of Miami and University of Regina in its post, along with 33 more well-known learning institutions.

UK university uses Google Glass to help Parkinson’s sufferers

While the the Google Glass Explorer Program hasn’t yet reached British shores, Google has begun gifting trial versions of the connected eyewear to various organizations around the world ahead. One of the first institutions to get hold of Glass was the UK’s Newcastle University, which used its five devices as part of a program to help Parkinson’s disease sufferers.
