Cricket Wireless will offer free unlimited calls to Mexico with its $50 and $60 plans

AT&T’s no-contract subsidiary Cricket Wireless will begin to offer unlimited talk to wireless and landline numbers in Mexico for customers on their $ 50 and $ 60 a month plans starting on Feb. 11. The plan changes also include unlimited text, video and picture messages to Mexico.

FTC rules that throttled unlimited data doesn’t qualify as ‘unlimited’

In a ruling that’s resulted in a $ 40 million fine, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s smacking down TracFone’s speed throttling of customers that were paying for unlimited data service. The case in question only applies to TracFone, but it helps to reinforce a precedent that could apply to even the larger carriers in the United States.

Sony teams with Spotify for new streaming service to replace Music Unlimited

Sony is teaming up with Spotify to launch PlayStation Music, a new streaming music service coming in spring 2015. The service will replace Music Unlimited, which will shut down everywhere that it is currently available on March 29, 2015. Beginning Feb. 28, current active Music Unlimited subscribers will get free access to the service until its closure.

FreedomPop offers unlimited access to its Wi-Fi network for $5 a month

Budget carrier FreedomPop is now offering Android smartphone owners unlimited talk, text, and data over its Wi-Fi network for $ 5 a month. The service is available via the company’s FreedomPop App which can log into 10 million hotspots in the US, some of which are not available for the general public.

AT&T has revamped their AT&T World Connect $ 5 monthly international calling package to offer unlimited calls to Mexico. The news comes just days after AT&T got approval from the Mexican government for a $ 2.5 billion acquisition of Iusacell, Mexico’s third-largest cellular carrier.
