PSA: Don’t update to Android Pie if you have a Samsung Gear wearable

Even after numerous developer previews, Pie still doesn’t support Gear accessories.

As of this past Monday, Android 9 Pie officially began rolling out to the Pixel/Pixel XL, Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL, and the Essential Phone. New leaked images of Pixel 3 XL reveal USB-C headphones in box (Update: Video unboxing!)

Update (10:15 AM): We’re not getting a hands-on video unboxing of the Pixel 3 XL. This comes to us via Reddit. As many commenters point out, the big notch we’ve seen in previously leaked photos appears to be large and in charge at the top of the device. We also see a pretty hefty chin too, leaving us to wonder why exactly we’re getting a notch and a chin.

OnePlus 3/3T confirmed to receive Android P update

The OnePlus 3 and 3T will go straight from Android 8.0 Oreo to Android P.

OnePlus said that Oreo would be the last platform update for the two-year-old OnePlus 3/3T, but the company is now changing its stance. In a forum thread, OnePlus confirmed that both the OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the Android P update.

AR Emoji update improves facial tracking and custom options on the Galaxy S9

Is anyone still using these?

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S9 and S9+ earlier this year, one of the more whimsical new features demoed was AR Emoji, Samsung’s competitor to the iPhone X’s Animoji. In short, the app scans your face and quickly spits out an animated version of you, with facial tracking and customizable options for hair, clothing, and skin tone.

Google’s Fuchsia OS may replace Android in 5 years [Update]

Send money to friends and more with the recent update to Google Pay
