Oreo update canceled for OnePlus 5 due to unnamed bug

OxygenOS 5.0 is being canned in favor of 5.0.1.

On December 24, OnePlus announced an early Christmas present in the form of a stable Oreo update for the OnePlus 5. Oreo was coming to the OnePlus 5 as part of OxygenOS 5.0, but just a few days after the update began rolling out to handsets, OnePlus has announced that it’s canceled it.

Xiaomi Mi A1 now getting official Android Oreo update

Oreo goes official.

Since early December, Xiaomi’s been seeking individuals to participate in a beta of Android Oreo for the Mi A1. News broke later in the month that Oreo for the phone introduced fast-charging, but there was still no timeframe as to when it’d be available for all. However, as a treat for ringing in the new year, Xiaomi’s announced that Oreo is officially rolling out to all Mi A1 units.

The $99 Nokia 2 will receive Android 8.1 update with Android Go tweaks

HMD Global is taking the best bits of Android Go and integrating them in the Nokia 2.

HMD Global has done a fantastic job when it comes to updating its phones, and the company is now extending that commitment to the $ 99 Nokia 2. Replying to a user’s query on Twitter, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has mentioned that the Nokia 2 will pick up the Android 8.1 Oreo update.

Stable Oreo update now rolling out to the LG V30 in South Korea

LG V30 starts receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update.

LG has been beta testing the Oreo update for the LG V30 in its home market for nearly a month, and the company is now rolling out the stable build. Like the beta update, the stable Oreo build is initially rolling out to V30 users in South Korea.

After a month of beta testing, the Oreo stable update is now available for the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus said it’ll deliver Android 8.0 Oreo to the OnePlus 5 in early 2018, and the company is now rolling out the update ahead of schedule. The OxygenOS 5.0 update comes in at 1.5GB, and includes the December security patch along with a slew of new features and tweaks.

Pixel 2 XL fingerprint sensor slower after 8.1 update

Google is aware of the issue and actively looking into it.

Android 8.1 started rolling out to Pixel and Nexus devices at the beginning of December, and while I’ve been enjoying the update without any issues, this hasn’t been the case for everyone.

Shortly after 8.1 started getting pushed out, some owners of the Pixel 2 XL took to Google’s official support forum to complain about a slowdown with the phone’s fingerprint sensor performance on 8.1 compared to 8.0.
