How to stop apps from automatically updating

A few months ago, Snapchat rolled out a massive redesign. People hated it with a passion. The update basically shuffled around core features, such as putting Snapchat Stories from your friends on the Chat/Friend screen to the left of the camera.

The redesign turned out to be a disaster and it actually led to Snapchat’s user base to shrink in March. But earlier this month, CEO Evan Spiegel announced a big reversal of the redesign’s worst part.

Samsung updating Gear Fit 2 with new and improved workout features, SOS function

Workout detection and post-workout feedback are getting better on Samsung’s fitness wearable.

Samsung has just pushed out an update to the Gear Fit 2 right around a year after launch that makes a few solid upgrades to its tracking — because, after all, that is what it’s designed to do. Building on the Gear Fit 2‘s automatic fitness tracking that auto-starts workouts when it detects certain sustained movement, Samsung says it has improved its ability to detect workouts.

Wileyfox updating entire lineup to move away from Cyanogen

With CyanogenMod discontinued and no longer supported, Wileyfox is in a bit of a pickle. The company used Cyanogen OS for its devices, and with that option now gone, the company is pushing forward on a strong note.

Telus may finally be updating the Galaxy S5 and Note 4 to Marshmallow

According to a new document, it appears as though Telus may be preparing to roll out the Marshmallow update for both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. The Marshmallow rollout has been a slow one, but we have seen lots of different phones get updated recently.

While both phones are somewhat older, that doesn’t mean that those holding onto them don’t want the latest operating system. Arjin Puri noted the changes on Twitter:

Google is updating its Play family of apps with a unified icon design

Google has announced that it will be rolling out a new set of icons to its Play family of apps. The suite of apps includes Google Play, Play Store, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Play Games, Play Books and Play Newsstand. All of the icons now have the same triangular design so at a glance they look similar, yet they each feature a distinction to make it easy to recognize the app.

HTC parks its Car app in Google Play for easier updating

HTC’s latest app to make it to Google Play is its Car app, which helps keep you connected without having to take your eyes off the road. The Car app brings up an interface featuring large icons, with options for navigation, phone calls, music and more.

OnePlus begins updating Oxygen OS to 2.0.2

OnePlus 2 owners will see the beginning of phased rollout for the newest update to Oxygen OS 2. Owners of the “2015 flagship killer” have seen several updates to their phones recently and this update will bring updates to fingerprint recognition accuracy, a fix for a bug that would unexpectedly mute the phone, stability improvements for the front facing camera and UI improvements in the camera software.

T-Mobile Nexus 6 updating to Android 5.1 build LMY47M

T-Mobile today announced that it’s started rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop to its Nexus 6.

However, perhaps more interesting than the rollout itself is that the build that T-Mobile lists for its Nexus 6 rollout, LMY47M, appears to be newer than (or at least different from) the 5.1 builds that we’ve seen so far.
