Pixel and Nexus dialer will send spam calls directly to voicemail

This will be available for all users in the next few weeks.

You know what’s not fun? Spam calls. Google adds video and audio voicemail to Duo

Rolling out to Android and iOS starting today.

Google Duo has become one of the best video-calling apps around, and today it’s adding a helpful tool for when contacts you try to reach aren’t available.

WhatsApp beta update brings voicemail and a new font

WhatsApp beta has just picked up an update to 2.16.189 with a litany of new features. First off is the ability to send a voicemail in case a voice call does not go through, or if the recipient declines the call. Earlier, you had to go back to the chat window to send a voice message, but that option is now available directly in the after-call menu, which also offers the ability to call the user back.

Project Fi app now lets you record and manage voicemail greetings with a tap

The Project Fi app has received a small, but nonetheless useful update, bringing the ability for users to easily record and manage multiple voicemail greetings right from the app. Of course, there are some bug fixes coming along for the ride as well. Here’s the full skinny on what’s new:

Google Voice voicemail transcriptions are now 49 percent less confusing

If you’ve been flummoxed at some of the errors you’ve gotten in Google Voice’s voicemail transcription, you’ll be happy to know that things are getting better. Google announced that they have used user-submitted feedback to improve voice transcription accuracy for Google Voice and Project Fi users by 49 percent.

Android M to get visual voicemail support for some carriers

Visual voicemail is a long missing standard in the smartphone world. Voicemail is an annoying, antiquated system that needs to die already. Visual voicemail allows you to listen to voicemails by selecting individual messages instead of waiting through all of them and having to hit touch tone buttons to modify or delete them.

Google Hangouts getting free voice calls and voicemail

It’s been a long loooong time coming, but Google Voice is finally getting more-or-less fully integrated into Hangouts. Earlier today we saw Google migrating Voice messaging into Hangouts, and now with an update to the Hangouts app for both Android (version 2.3, which will be rolling out over the next few days) and iOS you’ll be able to make calls make phone calls with ease.

Google Voice updated, provides fix for delayed SMS and voicemail notifications
