Spotify is getting an official app for Wear OS

You’ll be able to browse playlists, favorite songs, and more.

Wear OS’s app selection is actually pretty good, but ever since it was first released as Android Wear back in 2014, one of the biggest absences has been a proper Spotify app. Well, ladies and gentlemen, that’s finally changing.

On October 17, Spotify announced on its official blog that it’s launching a standalone Wear OS app for its streaming service so you can access the best bits  [Read More…]

Google finally gets it right with Wear OS 2.0

It’s not perfect yet, but it’s looking like Google finally got their UI right for wearables.

AC Score 4.5

Wear OS, Google’s smartwatch platform has not had an easy life. It’s been blasted and bemoaned for a clunky UI, and its watches — powered by long-outdated chipsets — have fallen further and further and further behind the Apple Watch, in performance, in style, and most  [Read More…]

Wear OS badly needs to catch up with the Apple Watch’s health features

Wear OS tracks fitness nicely, but that doesn’t save lives.

Call smartwatches “dead” all you want (and I’ll grant that they’re not the most exciting topic these days), but I see them on more wrists than ever before — and the vast majority of them are Apple Watches. That’s not just because of how many people carry an iPhone, or some dumb generalization about Apple fans, it’s because the Apple Watch is genuinely useful in ways that  [Read More…]
