T-Mobile’s Operation Tablet Freedom: 4G LTE tablets for same price as Wi-Fi models (plus free data!)


T-Mobile on Thursday outlined its second Un-carrier move in as many days. Starting on April 12 and running through the rest of the year, customers can add a 4G LTE version of a tablet for the same price as the Wi-Fi-only version. Yeah, for real. Tri-band variant of Sprint Galaxy S4 receiving update to enable Wifi Calling

No word on update for original Galaxy S4 on the carrier

The tri-band Galaxy S4 (that’s the one with Sprint Spark capabilities) is the latest Sprint device to get the recently-introduced Wifi Calling feature. Facebook Messenger updated to v4.0, brings free Wi-Fi calling

A new Facebook Messenger update is rolling through the Google Play Store right now. Listed a v4.0, it features quite few changes over the last update, though some were previously available on the beta. If you weren’t part of that, the update brings along groups, forwarding, conversation shortcuts and adds a free calling over Wi-Fi feature.

Delta does Gogo Wifi on its first international flights

Good news for you folks who just have to stay connected while winging it to Asia: Delta has launched its first Wifi-enabled flights from Atlanta to Tokyo, and from Los Angeles to Tokyo. The initial rollout is on the 747-400. Gogo expects to complete installation on the rest of Delta’s international fleet — the 777, 767, 757, 747 and Airbus A330 by the end of 2015. Press release

European HTC One getting second KitKat update with Wifi fix

HTC has begun rolling out a second Android 4.4.2-based over-the-air update for the 2013 HTC One (M7) in some European customers. Today’s 205MB update to version 4.19.401.11 follows the withdrawal of the earlier KitKat update due to “difficulties” experienced by some users. Today’s OTA changelog references “support for more routers” as the only change, suggesting incompatibility with certain Wifi equipment may have led to the earlier ROM being pulled.

HTC addressing Wifi security loophole in some Android handsets

HTC Desire S

HTC is updating some of its Android phones to address a security vulnerability which could allow malicious apps to steal Wifi security information. In a post on its official support site, the manufacturer says that many of the affected handsets have already been updated over-the-air, however some may require a manual update.

Motorola Xyboard Wi-Fi Tablets rolling out today


Folks looking to get their hands on the Wi-Fi Motorola Xyboard 8.2″ and 10.1″ tablets, the wait is over. Though the device has been up for preorder for a few weeks now, the follow up to the Xoom tablet is now shipping from Motorola’s website.

Motorola Xoom WiFi owners in U.S. receiving Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update


We’ve received a flurry of tips this morning from folks who own the WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom tablet. Apparently, Google and Motorola are sending a free ice cream sandwich an OTA update to owners of the Motorola Xoom tablet in the U.S., bringing the highly-anticipated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
