Google’s Reply app is here and works surprisingly well

Earlier this month, Google’s Area 120 experimental division announced its latest creation – an Android app called “Reply.” Reply essentially brings Allo’s Smart Reply feature to all of your communication apps, and it’s now available for anyone to download.

Reply is still in beta, and if you want to download it, you’ll need to sideload the APK file as it isn’t available on the Play Store. Assuming you’re comfortable doing this and have a phone running Android 7.0  [Read More…]

This is how Google Chrome’s new ad-blocker works

Last April, Google surprised a lot of us by announcing it was working on a built-in ad-blocker for Google Chrome. We got an update a few months later in December saying that the ad-blocker would be released at some point in February of 2018, and now on February 15, the feature is ready for prime time.

As we already knew, Chrome’s ad-blocker will filter and hide any advertisements it detects on websites that don’t follow the Better Ads  [Read More…]

The Mi Mix 2S appears to be real after all.

These rumors were quickly shut down, but a few months later, it would appear that a Mi Mix 2S is, in fact, in the works.

Samsung cancels Oreo update for Galaxy S8, new version in the works

The waiting game continues.

On February 8, Samsung confirmed that Android Oreo was finally being released for the Galaxy S8/S8+. This came as exciting news for owners of the two phones, but just less than a week after the update’s been out in the wild, Samsung’s announced that it’s pulling the plug on it.

SamMobile was the first to report on this news, and it appears that the current Oreo update has made its way to users  [Read More…]

Jigsaw Story: A good puzzle simulator that works best on bigger screens (review)

In all the game genres available in the Play Store, sometimes you may want to game in a much more chill, passive way. No quick reflexes. No bells, whistles, and music blaring at you. No multi-level story line or myriad of villains and their evil armies to survive. Something like, say a puzzle. A jigsaw […]

Available now as part of v7.3 of Camera NX.

It’s no secret that the Pixel 2 has an incredible camera, and one of its standout features is portrait mode. Google’s kept this locked to the Pixel 2 and likely won’t release it to other phones anytime soon, but thanks to the hard work of developer Charles Chow, you can now get portrait mode on your first-gen Pixel, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 5X.

If Chow’s name sounds familiar,  [Read More…]

Google Store drops Pixel C, but another detachable tablet is in the works

Google’s last Android tablet is dead.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – Android tablets are in a really awkward place right now. Devices like the Galaxy Tab S3 and Amazon’s line of Fire tablets stick out as some of the best options, but as a whole, the interest in large touch-screen canvases with Android has died down a lot.

Now, it appears even Google is calling it quits with Android tablets. The Pixel  [Read More…]

Sentio Desktop is a Samsung DeX alternative that works with any Android phone

Many companies have tried – and mostly failed throughout the years – to make smartphones work like PCs for years now. Just think of Motorola’s Atrix or HP’s crazy Elite x3 smartphone. But Samsung’s new DeX station seems to have challenged the perception that using a phone as a dedicated computer is something unattainable. Trouble […]
