Verizon XLTE hits 10 new markets inlcuding Charleston, Watertown and Eureka

Verizon has today expanded their XLTE service to 10 new markets, making the total number of XLTE markets over 400 across the country. The service, which offers double the speed of standard 4G LTE, is available on various Verizon devices including the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and LG G2.

Verizon’s new Ellipsis 8 is an XLTE tablet starting at $149

We now have a follow-up to last year’s Ellipsis 7 tablet: the Ellipsis 8. Like its predecessor, this isn’t a high-end tablet by any means — it’s a cheap and easy way onto the Verizon network, in this case the AWS-laden XLTE network. But it is an improvement, bringing an 8-inch HD display to the party for $ 149 with a 2-year contract.

Verizon flips switch on AWS-enhanced XLTE

Verizon’s XLTE is official and it is bringing double the bandwidth to dozens of cities across the United Sates. The enhanced-LTE service uses Verizon’s AWS spectrum to double the speeds available more than two-dozen devices available on Big Red’s network, including the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, iPhone 5s, Samsung ATIV SE, and BlackBerry Q10.

Verizon has fired up a new, beefier branding for its 4G LTE smartphone service. Dubbed XLTE, it takes advantage of the AWS spectrum to double the bandwidth in high-traffic locations.

After being rumored earlier this week, it looks like we have more leaked information about Verizon’s rumored XLTE service. XLTE is not a new service, but Verizon’s marketing as part of its plans to utilize its AWS spectrum to bring faster data in select markets.
