Motorola Xyboard – Strange name, solid tablet, serious contender? [Tablet Review]

I’m going to skip talking about the Xyboard name for as long as I can. Ok. The name is ridiculous; I’m moving on. As Verizon’s newest tablet, the Xyboard has a lot  [Read More...]

Folks looking to get their hands on the Wi-Fi Motorola Xyboard 8.2″ and 10.1″ tablets, the wait is over. Though the device has been up for preorder for a few weeks now, the follow up to the Xoom tablet is now shipping from Motorola’s website.

Hands-on with the Motorola XYBOARD 10.1

Motorola XYBOARD 10.1

This Motorola XYBOARD 10.1 looks a little familiar, eh? It should. Take the Motorola XYBOARD 8.2 (see our hands-on), add a couple inches, and that’s what you’ve got. It’s the same redesigned Motorola Xoom 2 with a larger screen and a third option for storage — 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.

Otherwise, pretty much the same thing here. You’ve got angled corners, the metallic section on the back, 5MP rear  [Read More...]

Hands on with the Motorola XYBOARD 8.2

Motorola XYBOARD 8.2

Behold, the Verizon Motorola XYBOARD 8.2. In a nutshell, it’s a scaled-down, slimmed-down, sexed-up verison of the original Motorola Xoom, and it fits right in with the likes of the Motorola RAZR. It’s a bit angular, it’s industrial design is, well, industrial. But it’s also plenty powerful under the hood.

We’re very much digging the 8.2-inch screen size (at 1232×800 resolution for, even if it’s only 179 pixels per  [Read More...]

Oddly named Xoom 2 sells for $ 429 to $ 729

Verizon Motorola XYBOARD

Update: Verizon now says you can get the Xyboard in stores starting Dec. 12.

Not sure if you can get them in stores yet (all signs point to no), but the new Droid XYBOARD tablets — those are Verizon’s horribly named 10-inch Motorola Xoom 2 and 8.2-inch Xoom 2 Media Edition — are available now on Big Red’s  [Read More...]

Verizon had been showing off the Motorola Xyboard Android tablets recently, even though the company had yet to officially announce them or provide any release information. Today, Verizon Wireless confirmed the Droid Xyboard 10.1 and 8.2 are heading to Verizon’s 4G LTE network this month.

The 10.1 and 8.2 tags are a reference to the screen size, both of which are HD IPS displays.  [Read More...]

Motorola Xoom 2/Xyboard

Verizon this morning in a press release talked up the first anniversary of the launch of its LTE network, pimping that 190 markets and 200 million people will be covered by Dec. 15 (that’s covered, and not necessarily subscribed). Pretty impressive when you think about it, especially when you compare it to the other established 4G network. (Cough. Wimax.)

Oh, and expect a couple of Motorola Xyboard tablets this  [Read More...]

A year ago today, Verizon Wireless flipped on the switch that launched its 4G LTE network in 39 markets providing high-speed mobile Internet access to 110 million Americans.  On December 15th, Verizon will turn on 4G LTE in a few more markets bringing the total amount of markets covered with 4G LTE access to 190.  In terms of Americans covered, the number has jumped  [Read More...]

An internal Verizon MAP document leaked both the release date and on-contract pricing for the Motorola Xyboard line of tablets. The device that could go down in history as one of the worst named products will land on Verizon Wireless on December 8th (hopefully alongside the Galaxy Nexus). There are a total of 5 different SKUs in the Motorola Xyboard family.

Though we’ve seen Amazon turn the tablet market upside down with the release of  [Read More...]

The pace at which Android devices are released has led to some rather interesting name choices from manufacturers. You can only add “pad,” “tab” and “slate” to so many technology relevant words. But that is by no means an excuse for a name like Xyboard.

Leaked by PocketNow, Motorola and Verizon will be partnering up to sell the Xoom 2 and Xoom  [Read More...]
