revolution update

Many of you may not be very happy with LG right now, after finding out that the G2x may not be getting an Ice Cream Sandwich update. On the good side, though, the LG Revolution is finally getting an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The wait has been long, and it seems like these 4G LTE devices were stuck with Froyo for a long time. Things are finally looking up for these smartphones, starting with the Thunderbolt receiving its Gignerbread update recently (again). Now that LG Revolution users get a taste of gingerbread, you will be able to enjoy all the features that Android 2.3 has to offer.

Verizon’s software update PDF also mentions the following improvements:

Email & Messaging

  • Email folders will now display in the correct order.
  • The maximum attachment size is now set correctly, even when the
Exchange service is configured with unlimited size attachments.
  • Messages can now be stored on the SIM card. View these messages
through the Settings menu, “Manage SIM card messages.”
  • Correctly set Out of Office without having to set a start or end time.
  • The popup message asking to delete accounts when changing the
    SIM card now displays correctly.

Device Features

  • The cursor has been reshaped for easier text editing.
  • List menu force close issue has been resolved.
  • Issues have been fixed involving proper connectivity through
    the HDMI cable.
  • Data now works correctly when toggling in Airplane mode

If you haven’t updated your device yet, simply go to Menu Key > Settings > About phone > System updates > Check New and follow the instructions. After letting the LG Revolutions do its thing, you should be ready to go. Don’t forget to hit the comments to let us know how this update is treating you.
