With Google’s release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, everyone is wondering when this update will be coming to current devices. Manufacturers are currently seeing which smartphones can get this treatment, and Samsung Italy has just given us a list of confirmed devices to get the ICS update.

The list is not huge, and only the newest phones and tablets will be getting Android’s latest version. Aside from the Galaxy Nexus, and the Nexus S, these are the devices that are confirmed to be getting an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich:

  • Galaxy S II
  • Galaxy Note
  • Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • Galaxy Tab 8.9
  • Galaxy Tab 7.7
  • Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

This may not come as great news to the many of you, but there is always hope. This does not necessarily mean that other devices will not be getting an upgrade, but the chances are definitely smaller. For now, we will have to wait and see if other Samsung devices get added to the list.

Is your device on the list? Will you be purchasing another phone to get this update? Would you rather grab a custom ROM? Give us your opinions, and let’s keep our fingers crossed for Ice Cream Sandwich updates.
