Alcatel 1X review: It’s Android Go time

You can have everything Android has to offer for just $ 100.

Smartphones are expensive. They have always been expensive, but as they approach the $ 1,000 mark it becomes more obvious. In the long-term, maybe $ 1,000 isn’t too much to pay for a year or more of the convenience and helpfulness that a smartphone has to offer, but not everyone has that kind of money to spend. The good news is that several companies are  [Read More…]

The phone is launching on Amazon next week.

Formally unveiled at MWC this past February, Alcatel’s announced that it’s bringing the Alcatel 3V to the United States next week.

The 3V is very much so a budget phone with a price tag of just $ 150, but you’re getting a lot of phone for the money.

Right on the front is a large 6-inch screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio touting a TCL-made 2K (2160 x 1080)  [Read More…]

The Alcatel 1X is the least powerful of all the phones Alcatel announced at MWC, but it’s notable as it’s the company’s first Android Go handset. The device is equipped  [Read More…]

Now at MWC 2018, we have some actual pricing and availability details for us to go along with our initial impressions of the  [Read More…]

The Alcatel 5, 3V, and 1X will be announced on February 24

One of these phones is not like the others.

Mobile World Congress will be here before we know it, and among all of the companies announcing new products, Alcatel will be one of them. The company recently took to Twitter to shed some light on three of the phones we’ll see, and they include the Alcatel 5, 3V, and 1X.

The Alcatel 5 is the company’s flagship phone for 2018, and as you can see from the  [Read More…]

Some Alcatel phones had the default gallery app replaced with spamware

We’ve reached out to Alcatel for a statement, but either way, this is bad news for the company.

There are a lot of contenders in the budget Android space, and one of them is Alcatel. I’ve used and recommended Alcatel phones over the years, and while I’ve mostly been happy using gadgets from the company, a new light’s been shed on a security issue that’ll likely prevent me from doing so going forward.

Like a lot of  [Read More…]

Alcatel is bringing at least three new smartphones to MWC, but here’s a sneak peek

Alcatel is debuting three new devices at CES, but they won’t be properly detailed until next month at MWC.

Alcatel is bringing at least three new phone lines to Mobile World Congress in February, but it’s teasing the products at CES to gauge interest and set the stage for a resurgence in the brand throughout 2018.

TCL Communications, which owns both the Alcatel brands and BlackBerry Mobile, was quiet on the Alcatel front in 2017 as it  [Read More…]
