Casio WSD-F30 hands-on: MrMobile’s favorite smartwatch gets an upgrade

For my money, nobody builds a better summertime smartwatch than Casio. The company’s ProTrek series has it all: alti-barometers, rugged casings, standalone GPS, and dual-layer displays that offer incredible readability in direct sunlight. Even occasional outdoorsmen such as myself can appreciate the ProTrek F10 and F20 for the sheer boldness of their oversized designs, while those in search of more petite wearables have understandably gone elsewhere.

With the ProTrek WSD-F30, Casio seems to have gotten the memo  [Read More…]

New Casio WSD-F30 smartwatch has improved dual-layer display, smaller case

This is still a huge watch, but Casio has made important changes.

Casio has made some of the most unique-looking smartwatches in the business, and is iterating its lineup with the new rugged WSD-F30 running Wear OS. At a glance it looks very similar to its predecessors, but it actually has some important changes both externally and internally to keep it compelling heading into 2019.

The WSD-F10 and -F20 models were unabashedly large, which kind of fit  [Read More…]

Casio ProTrek Smart review: Adventure watch

Casio gets a lot more attention than some other watchmakers on the MrMobile channel, and that’s because it’s one of the few companies doing something different with Android Wear. Last year, I reviewed the company’s feature-packed but pricey WSD-F10 outdoor smartwatch, and this summer’s sequel has ditched the clunky model number for a (slightly) streamlined brand name.

Much else is familiar though; the ProTrek Smart keeps the chunky frame, water resistance and the high price point – not to  [Read More…]

Casio breathes new life into wearables and action cameras

Casio’s CES booth held some great tech for the adventurer. The WSD-F20 smartwatch isn’t just a weighty name; the watch has improved over its previous iteration. The FR200 action camera shoots in 4K, has an 180-degree viewable angle, and is waterproof, dustproof, and shock-resistant.

MrMobile takes to the forest of CES to seek the tree of tech knowledge. Michael Fisher knows now what the future holds, and imparts that wisdom unto you, adventurer. This ain’t no text adventure, get  [Read More…]

Casio WSD-F20 hands-on: Android Wear 2.0 that can go anywhere

Casio is one of a few watchmakers sticking with Android Wear for the time being.

Casio’s second Android Wear watch is just as huge, feature-packed and ostentatious as the last, and it’s running Android Wear 2.0. It’s the not-so-smoothly named WSD-F20, a follow-up to the F10, and just as the brand name and a single glance at the watch would lead you to believe it’s a perfect match for those with an active lifestyle.

Just as before  [Read More…]

Casio G’zOne Commando update brings bug fixes and push-to-talk

Android Central

Casio and Verizon are continuing to roll out software updates for the G’zOne Commando, following the rugged phone’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread update late last year. The latest software for the Commando brings it up to version C771M100, and adds free push-to-talk capability, along with the usual sprinkling of bug fixes. The new software is also apparently built on a newer build of Gingerbread than the last version, and includes the “latest Google  [Read More…]

Casio joins the smart watch boom with its new G-Shock

Ready to rock that G-SHOCK again? These watches have been quite popular for many years, but our phones have taken their jobs, and it is now rare to see a watch around (let alone a G-SHOCK). Right when the “smart watch” is starting to become the next big thing (as soon as manufacturers get it right), Casio has decided to jump in on the action with the new G-SHOCK GB-6900.
