If big game developers cared about Android nobody would need a Switch

Gaming hardware is there for Android, but the content just isn’t; I wish companies like Nintendo cared about Android.

The Nintendo Switch is freaking awesome. Pretty much anyone you ask will agree if they aren’t too busy playing Animal Crossing or Zelda. It’s portable but can connect to a television, has wireless controllers that mostly don’t suck, and every big name developer is tripping over its own feet trying to get games ported to the platform. Yes,  [Read More…]

CES 2020: 5 crazy expensive pieces of tech nobody needs but everybody wants

CES is the place of tech dreams, where spectacle is paramount and the price of products is often out of the public’s reach. From massive 8K TVs to waterproof drones to AI-powered washing machines to… Alexa-powered Lamborghinis, there was an out-of-reach product for everyone at the show.

With over 4,500 exhibitors showing off hundreds of thousands of products, we’re rounding up some of the more garish and aspirational products we saw at CES 2020.

Samsung DeX is the best product that nobody cares about

Does nobody really want to carry a desktop PC in their pocket?

In 2017, Samsung showed off a way to turn your Galaxy S8 into a desktop computer. Called Samsung DeX (that stands for DEsktop eXperience — the erratic capitalization bothers me as much as it bothers you) it required a $ 150 docking station, ruined Samsung SideSync, and was generally written off as a gimmick that had been tried before and fabulously failed each and every  [Read More…]

Sony reinvented its design language and nobody will notice

The new Xperia XZ2 looks like the best phone that nobody is going to buy in 2018.

Sony has never been a major player when it comes to smartphone sales. That’s not to say it doesn’t make great stuff; ask anyone who has a Sony phone or has had a Sony phone and you’ll hear the same things — built tough, unique camera features (even though the camera isn’t the greatest), and amazingly sharp LCD displays are  [Read More…]

OnePlus 5 confirmed to have Snapdragon 835 processor, surprising nobody

We’ll always take a proper confirmation.

The upcoming OnePlus 5 will have a Snapdragon 835 processor, matching the top-end power offered by just about every other flagship launched in 2017. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau made a post on the OnePlus Forums to confirm everyone’s suspicions on the processor choice, and go further in depth on performance aspirations for the OnePlus 5.

Having a Snapdragon 835 is simply a spec, as we all know, and while it’s something  [Read More…]

Google accounts are on the fritz but nobody is getting hacked

When Google gets wonky, everything gets wonky.

If you have a Google account error that says “something has changed” and asks you to log in again, there’s no cause for alarm. Google tells us they know something’s up and it’s not related to any suspicious activity.

We’ve gotten reports about some users being signed out of their accounts unexpectedly. We’re investigating, but not to worry: there is no indication that this is connected to any phishing or  [Read More…]

Sony’s Xperia Z4 is the flagship nobody asked for

Sony’s latest high-end phone, announced for the Japanese market, is a bizarre non-upgrade that does no favors for the company or its customers.

Let’s talk about the Sony Xperia Z4. The Japanese electronics giant announced the latest in its line of premium Z-series smartphones recently for its home market. And it’s fair to say the popular reaction to the device has fallen somewhere between bewilderment and outright derision. Consumers and critics alike seem confused as to  [Read More…]
