Samsung posts ‘solid’ Q1 results, forecasts weak Q2 profit due to COVID-19

The company’s Q1 operating profit increased by KRW 0.2 trillion ($ 164 million) in Q1 2020.

What you need to know Samsung Electronics has announced its Q1 2020 financial results. The company reported quarterly operating profit of KRW 6.45 trillion ($ 5.3 billion) and sales of KRW 55.33 trillion ($ 45.4 billion). It is anticipating a decline in revenue in Q2 2020 as COVID-19 will impact demand for its core products.

Alphabet posts strong $41 billion in Q1 revenue despite coronavirus impact

A relatively strong quarter comes in under the shadow of coronavirus-forced issues ahead.

What you need to know Alphabet’s Q1 2020 revenues were $ 41 billion, up 13% year over year. Ad revenue experienced a “significant slowdown” in March, but YouTube ads still gained 33% year over year. Google’s “other” revenues, including its hardware division, posted revenues up 22% year over year.

Facebook bug deletes all the wrong coronavirus posts overnight

Facebook says it has restored posts that were incorrectly removed.

What you need to know Facebook spent the night deleting coronavirus posts that were wrongly designated spam. That’s because of a bug in its anti-spam system. Posts from sources such as BBC News were marked as misleading or containing false advertisement.

Turns out Neighbors users are sharing more than bobcat photos and racist complaints

Facebook is hiding likes from posts as part of a test in Australia

The most common reactions and the comment counts will still be displayed.

What you need to know Facebook is now testing a feature in Australia where it hides the total number of likes. Only the author of the post will see the total number of likes, but everyone will still be able to see the most common reaction types and the number of comments. Huawei posts record $107 billion in revenue for 2018

Huawei’s U.S. troubles haven’t affected its bottom line in any meaningful way.

2018 was a turbulent year for Huawei in the U.S., but it looks like its troubles haven’t had any impact on the company’s bottom line. Thank you, thank you, a million times, thank you.

It’s no secret that Instagram is the biggest social network for sharing pictures and videos of whatever’s going on in your life, but for the last couple years, it’s been a hot mess for a lot of users. Samsung posts record profits in Q4 2017, foldable Galaxy X phone set to launch this year

Samsung is looking to differentiate its smartphones by launching a foldable phone this year.

Instagram now shows posts from accounts you don’t follow in your main feed

Like it or not, recommended posts are now part of your feed.

Throughout December alone, Instagram’s made some fairly big updates to its main feed. The middle of the month saw a new option to follow hashtags to keep up to date with trends/topics that you’re interested in, and just about a week ago, Instagram started rolling out an in-line comment feature to make it even faster to leave your thoughts on photos/videos.
