Xiaomi ships 23.16 million smartphones in Q2 2017, an uptick of 70% from Q1

Xiaomi sees record shipments in Q2 2017 as YoY revenues from India climb 328%.

Xiaomi announced that it shipped 23.16 million smartphones in Q2 2017, making it the best quarter ever for the Chinese company. The company faced a slowdown in sales last year over supply constraints, with CEO Lei Jun announcing a series of broad changes at the end of last year. Google CEO Sundar Pichai says smartphones need to cost as little as $30 in India

Google CEO wants entry-level smartphones to be available for as low as $ 30.

During a visit to India, Google CEO Sundar Pichai paid a visit to his alma mater, IIT Kharagpur, where he addressed a congregation of over 3,500 students. Speaking at the event, Pichai said that the cost of entry-level smartphones needs to come down to ₹2,000 ($ 30) to boost adoption in India:

Lenovo ships 14 million smartphones in Q2, Moto brand sees 40% surge

Lenovo has posted its financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2016 (second fiscal quarter). The company announced a net profit of $ 157 million, a turnaround from the $ 842 million loss resulting from restructuring efforts in Q2 2015. Overall revenue was $ 11.2 billion, an 8% YoY decrease but an increase of 12% from the previous quarter.
