UK’s Virgin Media and O2 to merge in $38 billion deal

Liberty Global and Telefónica are merging their U.K operations.

What you need to know Two of the UK’s biggest telecoms companies are merging. O2 and Virgin Media are joining forces in a 50-50 venture. The deal is said to be worth some £31 billion ($ 38 billion).

Telefónica has today announced that it is merging its U.K operations with Liberty Global, meaning that Virgin Media and O2 are coming together in a 50-50 joint venture.

Sprint’s Virgin Mobile prepaid brand is shutting down next month

The Virgin Mobile brand in other countries will remain unaffected.

What you need to know Sprint has confirmed that it is shutting down the Virgin Mobile brand in the U.S. Virgin Mobile customers will be migrated over to Boost Mobile. The transition is expected to be fairly smooth, since both Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile use the same network.

The ZTE Axon 7 Mini, which we voted as the best phone you can buy under $ 300, is coming to Canada this week through youth-oriented carrier, Virgin Mobile.

Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile have introduced a new budget phone from Alcatel, the Dawn. The 4G LTE phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is available for $ 69.99 without a contract.

Sprint has announced that it is launching the sub-$ 100 LG K3 on both of its prepaid brands, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. The phone is now available from both at just $ 79.99.
